Introducing Our Friend Lori Kennedy: She is doing a Sulky Giveaway on her blog!

I love reading blogs. I have been known to waste an entire day that I could have been sewing, just reading and looking at pictures on different blogs. I have had to reign myself in. Now I only give myself a set amount of time before I will then get off the computer and go make something, instead of just reading and looking at pictures of what everyone else in the internet world has made (don’t get me started on Pinterest, although I would love for you to follow us).
Like everyone, I have my favorites that I always check to see what they are up to. One of my favorites is Lori Kennedy’s blog, The Inbox Jaunt. Lori is a mother of 6 kids, 5 girls and 1 boy; she is a photographer, quilter and all around great girl! My favorite things on her blog are her wonderful free-motion quilting tutorials and there are over 75 of them. She creates free-motion quilting motifs that are beautiful, intricate and look complicated, yet she breaks it down, step by step, in a way that just makes you feel, “I think I could do that!”

Her pictures are stunning (of course, she is a photographer), and helpful and give you a great visual for each step in the process. But here is the beauty of Lori and her blog. She does everything on her home machine, WITHOUT A STITCH REGULATOR! She is showing you how to create these amazing designs on a machine very similar to the one I sew on every day. Can you see why I just love her? I’m not the only one, lots of people are gushing over her work, as a matter of fact, she is the newest contributor to American Quilter Magazine where she will have a bi-monthly column.

So hop on over to her blog, and get inspired to try some free-motion quilting. While you are there, you may win over $100 worth of Sulky products because she is having a giveaway today! Lori loves Sulky Rayons and says they are the perfect thread for her free-motion work.

I am a beginner with free motion quilting but would love to learn this technique. I am probably intermediate to advanced with machine applique. I used sulky threads almost exclusively and would love to win this.

I am an intermediate free motion quilter but haven’t experimented a lot with thread yet. I have done a lot of hand applique but am a beginner at machine applique. The rayon thread looks so rich. I would love to try it for machine stitching.
