Choose to make either a pillow or wall hanging, using the same method and kit. Because we’re celebrating National Embroidery Month during the “month of LOVE,” we want to bring you this project and kit at an amazing deal, only available while supplies last! LLAMA DESIGN DETAILS

The fuzzy llama is made with Cuddle® minkee fabric, so it looks like real fur and feels soft and curly. This fabric is tamed with the help of Sulky Solvy Stabilizer, which is placed over the top of the fabric during the in-the-hoop appliqué process. The topper allows the thread to sit on top of the fabric fibers, rather than sinking into them. So, the embroidery is crisper and more pronounced. The satin stitches of the design prevent the fabric from shedding and provide a professional finish.

Sulky Puffy Foam is used for the fuzzy llama sunglasses and satin edge portions of the design. The arrows embroidered on the borders also seem 3D with the help of Puffy Foam. Place this product on top of the fabric in the hoop just before certain steps of the design. Then, embroider over it. Once embroidered, tear away the excess beyond the stitching line to reveal “puffed” stitches that pop off the surface. If you’ve never tried Puffy Foam before, now is your chance to have some fun!

Did you know? Llamas love sheep! “Guard” llamas are often introduced into flocks of sheep to protect them. Hence the “I Love Ewe” message in Desiree’s fabric collection, featured in this project. The Fuzzy Llama makes a great gift and addition to your Valentine’s Day décor. Use it any time of year to send a little love out in the universe.

This projects works great for a mini quilt as well. Add a hanging sleeve to the backing and bind using your favorite method. Hang the fuzzy llama on your wall, front door or garden flag to celebrate Valentine’s Day. If dessired, omit the borders and use that fabric for binding. The choice is yours! The border stitching designs are a separate stitchout, so you can isolate them and use them for other projects, too.
