GRADUATION GREETING CARD TIPS

When working your way through the Session and while making your Graduation Greeting Card, keep these things in mind.

  1. Don’t cut the card stock backing until you’ve cut out the card. You may need to adjust the size.
  2. Fold the card stock and cut the folded piece about ¼” bigger all around than the embroidered card design to create a folded card.
  3. It is not necessary to trim the threads on the back of the watercolor paper because it does not show. The jump threads help keep the stitching more secure on the paper.

Did you know that this card is identical in its design and style to my friend and mentor Donna Rauff!!! The only difference is that the embroidery in the center is a DBJJ design I presume. They stole this from her!😡😳This is a travesty, and I personally consider it to be theft! I took a class from Donna several years ago and this is directly from that class! She teaches many card making classes online. You can look her up on FB. The least they could have done is change the design and style to make it more their own!!! I am a regular Sulky customer, and I expect a reply to this. A tester from DBJJ took a class with Donna and shortly thereafter these cards began to show up!

Thank you for your comment. We will follow up with you shortly. For reference, are you referring to a specific card design or the whole technique of embroidering greeting cards?

      Hello again.
After some careful research and reaching out to Designs by Juju, we’ve determined with the help of Julie Trieb, that there is nothing in the DBJJ card designs that is identical to anything by Donna Rauff, either in design or technique. The motif borders you’re referencing are standard, built-in motifs from digitizing software, which are not exclusive to any one user or designer.
Julie says, “Donna uses a very specific, detailed method for creating embroidered cards—often involving Peltex and multiple steps. Our card designs are much simpler and primarily involve applique on felt, which is a widely used and very basic technique in the machine embroidery world.
All of our artwork is commissioned and exclusive to Designs by JuJu. We take great care to ensure originality in our work and have never copied or reproduced anyone else’s creations.
Years ago, one of our testers, who had taken a class with Donna, experimented on her own with Donna’s more involved technique. But there’s zero overlap between that and the card designs we’ve released.”
I hope this clears up any confusion.
