Stitch a stuffie that has a cute personality and gift it to a teacher or student for “back-to-school” season. Swap the pencil lead color to create a set of colored pencils, if desired! This pillow also makes a great gift for an artist. But it’s really great in a cozy corner or reading nook, too. GRAB THE FREE PATTERN!

PATTERN DETAILS

The Pencil Pillow Pal pattern, designed by Chelsea Briner of Sew Simple Home, measures 22″ long, 10½” around and 4″ wide. The pencil lead is dark gray in this case, but is easily changed to a color simply by changing the fabric color. If changing the lead, change the pencil body piece to match, too.

The face appliqué is done in Sulky Felty for texture and dimension. But that’s also easily swapped for quilting cotton fabric, too. Sew the face to secure by hand (per the pattern directions) or machine, if preferred.

Use Lt. Pink Felty for the eraser, as it provides the perfect softness and texture. Substituting that for woven cotton fabric isn’t recommended. Felty is 100% polyester, machine washable and can tolerate moderate heat from an iron. Felty comes in rolls or precut sheets. Purchase a roll to have enough for the entire eraser sections of the pencil pillow pal. The Lt Pink color is absolutely perfect!
