Witch Wine Bottle Label

Create a fun label for any bottle to celebrate Halloween or general spookiness! This label features our Halloween Potions patch design, Witch Wine, but any of the patch designs in the Halloween Potions collections would be equally as charming. Grab the Twilly add-on pack to have tackle-twill fabric in the colors that coordinate with the design collection to create perfectly stitched patches that stand up alone or as appliqués.

Finished size: 4†x 10¼†with ½†closure overlap

WITCH WINE LABEL SUPPLIES

WITCH WINE EMBROIDERY

Import the medium Witch Wine design (for the 5×7 hoop) or a patch design of your choice that’s no larger than 3 ¾†x 5†into the embroidery machine.

Hoop two layers of Sulky Fabri-Solvyâ„¢.

Install a size 90/14 Embroidery Needle and thread the needle with the first thread color. Use Sulky Bobbin Thread in the bobbin.

If following the color chart for the Witch Wine design by Sulky, follow these instructions:

Stitch the first color stop, which are the placement stitches for the Twilly appliqué fabric.

Position the rectangle of Twilly fabric right side up over the placement stitches, completely covering them. Use KK 2000 to secure the Twilly to the stabilizer.

Stitch the next color stop, which are the tacking stitches for the appliqué fabric.

Remove the hoop from the machine or use the “Trim Position†function on the embroidery machine.

Using appliqué scissors, trim the fabric just beyond the placement stitches.

Return the hoop to the machine or to the “Current Stitch Position.â€

Continue embroidering the remaining design, stopping before the satin stitch edging step around the appliqué patch.

If using a different patch design and the satin edging doesn’t happen last, skip that step and embroider the remaining design. Then plan to go back to that step to attach the patch to the cork fabric, as detailed in “Witch Wine Appliqué.â€

WITCH WINE APPLIQUÉ

Fold the cork fabric rectangle in half widthwise to find the center; mark with Wonder Clips.

Float the cork fabric UNDER the hoop, centering the desired appliqué placement.

Stitch the last color stop of the Witch Wine design, or the satin stitch edging step of the chosen design.

When the embroidery is complete, remove the hoop from the machine. Remove the stabilizer from the hoop, and then trim it close to the satin stitching perimeter. Be sure to not nick the cork fabric below the patch when trimming.

Use a saturated cotton swab to remove the excess stabilizer beyond the perimeter stitching.

Set the patch aside to dry.

WITCH WINE LABEL CONSTRUCTION

Place the quilting cotton rectangle and embroidered cork rectangle right sides together, matching all edges and corners.

Clip the perimeter, using Wonder Clips to avoid permanent pin holes.

Stitch the upper, lower and one side edge using a ¼†seam allowance.

Using a fabric marker, measure and mark two dots ¼†inside the right short edge, spaced equidistantly along the width. (Each dot should be about 1¼†from each long edge.)

Use the snap setter and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to attach one male snap at each dot.

The threads palette fail to show when I click on the link. It just takes me to the designs and no threads are visible.
