It’s World Cross-Stitch Day!

This year marks the 8th annual World Cross-Stitch Day to bring cross-stitchers together and celebrate this great craft!

To get in the spirit, find the FREE cross-stitch chart featured above on the World Cross-Stitch Day website. Gather your supplies and see how easy and fun it is to cross-stitch with Sulky 12 wt. Cotton Petites Thread. This thread is strong and pretty, with 50 yards on convenient snap spools. One strand equals two strands of traditional embroidery floss, so you have fewer strands to contend with while obtaining great coverage.

THREAD ASSORTMENTS

Grab a Cotton Petites Sampler to have several spools of thread that coordinate based on season, color family or designer. The above sampler coordinates with Carolyn Manning’s Primrose Cross-Stitch design. These 6 spools of Sulky 12 wt. Cotton Petites Thread were hand-picked by Carolyn, including some beautiful Blendablesâ„¢ varieties. The thread is machine-washable, 100% cotton and so easy to use.

Along with thread in the color(s) of your choice, you’ll need a good handwork needle. These hand sewing needles come with three sizes. The Embroidery No 3 works well for cross-stitching with 12 wt. Cotton Petites. (Plus they come with a cute heart-shaped case!)

Some stitchers prefer a larger needle, depending on the fabric or medium used. Amanda Mae of Ardith Design likes using Bohin size 24 Tapestry Needles when working with Aida fabric (the fabric count will dictate the needle size).

FUN CROSS-STITCH KITS

A kit is an easy way to gather your supplies without having to hunt all over for the right thread, needle, fabric and so on. Check out this kit we curated with Amanda for her American Bison Cross-Stitch Chart. Amanda also did a FREE webcast demonstrating this pattern – take a look!

Our Spring Cross-Stitch Pillow Kit designed by Chrissy Callahan of TurtleBunny Creations also comes with a hoop. A Sulky German Wooden Embroidery Hoop is of the utmost quality (not splintery and keeps its shape!) and you will love stitching with it.

Use this kit to create a stunning design – even if it’s not springtime you’ll love the final look!
