ORNAMENT CUTTING & PREP
Using the printable pattern, cut out two felt trees in the same color.
Use the pattern to transfer one of the three embroidery designs onto the front of one of the felt trees.
Follow the embroidery pattern and stitch each of the lines using the key below.
Snowflake Tree
A: chain stitch – red thread, 2 strands
B: Lazy Daisy Stitch – white thread, 2 strands
Whimsical Tree
A: french knot – white thread, 2 strands and sequin
B: Chain Stitch – gold thread, 2 strands
C: Back Stitch – green thread, 2 strands
D: Running Stitch over rickrack – gold thread, 2 strands
Noble Fir Tree
A: Stem Stitch – green thread, 2 strands
B: Back Stitch – green thread, 2 strands
C: French Knot – red thread, 2 strands
After embroidery is complete, add sequins or other embellishments to accessorize the ornaments further.
ORNAMENT FINISHING
To finish, place the second tree behind the first, sandwiching the embroidery wrong side.
Next, cut a 2 1/2” piece of ½” ribbon for the trunk of each tree. Fold the ribbon in half and pin between the two layers of the tree.
Then, stitch a running stitch across the felt and ribbon to stitch in place. Or, tack the ribbon in place using the sewing machine.
Stitch a blanket stitch around the outside of the tree layers. Leave a 2” opening on one side.
Then, add fiberfill to stuff the ornament to the desired plumpness.
Finish stitching the remainder of the ornament closed.
To hang the ornament, cut a 7” length of the ⅛” ribbon. Thread through the top layers of the three. Lastly, tie a knot in the ribbon.
Repeat to create as many ornaments as desired.
