Ice Cream Sundae Placemats Set

ICE CREAM SUNDAE PLACEMAT SUPPLIES
- Ice Cream Drip Templates (find them in this Zip Pouch Project, which perfectly coordinates!)
- Quilting cotton fabrics
- ½ yard Tan Fabric
- ½ yard Pink Strawberry (or your favorite flavor) Fabric
- ½ yard White Confetti Fabric (backing fabric)
- 1/3 yard Coordinating Print (binding)
- Sulky Felty™ – Roll of Dark Brown
- Sulky Perfect Appliqué Fusible Web
- Fusible Fleece or Fleece Interlining + Sulky KK2000XT Temporary Spray Adhesive
- Sulky 12 wt Cotton Thread: 1045, 1051, 1115, 1187 *Use to create sprinkles
- Sulky 50 wt Cotton Thread: 1001, 1130
PLACEMAT CUTTING
Fusible Fleece:
- Cut (2) 13” x 19” rectangles
Sulky Perfect Appliqué
- Cut (2) 7.5” x 18” rectangles
- Cut (2) 5” x 18 rectangles
Tan Fabric
- Cut (2) 13” x 19” rectangles * Will be trimming to 12” x 18” AFTER quilting
Pink Strawberry Fabric
- Cut (2) 7.5” x 9.5” rectangles
White Confetti Fabric (Backing Fabric)
- Cut (2) 13” x 19” rectangles
Sulky Felty Dark Brown
- Cut (2) 5” x 18” rectangle
PLACEMAT FABRIC PREP
- Fuse (1) Sulky Perfect Appliqué 7.5” x 18” rectangle to wrong side of (1) Pink Strawberry Fabric. Repeat for second placemat.
- Fuse (1) Sulky Perfect Appliqué 5” x 18” rectangle to (1) Sulky Felty Dark Brown rectangle. Repeat for second placemat.
- Fuse Fusible Fleece to wrong side of (2) Tan Fabrics per manufacturer directions.
Ice Cream Placemat Assembly
Tan Fabric
- Machine quilt cross-hatch design on both tan fabric rectangles. Quilted lines are 2” apart using a 3.5 stitch length and Sulky 50wt Cotton Thread color 1001.
- Trim each quilted tan fabric rectangle to 12” x 18”.
Pink Strawberry Fabric
- Draw scallop pattern on paper side of Sulky Perfect Applique. You may use included scallop pattern* or draw your own.
*Print 2 copies of scallop pattern and tape together for 18” scallop OR print 1 copy then shift scallop pattern forward to extend the length. This is the same scallop pattern from the coordinating Sulky Ice Cream Sundae Zipper Pouch project.
- Cut along drawn line
- Fuse scalloped Pink Strawberry Fabric to top of Tan fabric.
- Use a decorative appliqué stitch along bottom scallops with matching 50 wt Sulky Cotton Thread.
Sulky Felty – dark brown
- Draw hot fudge drips pattern on paper side of Sulky Perfect Applique. You may use included hot fudge drips pattern* or draw your own.
*Print 2 copies of fudge drips pattern and tape together for 18” fudge drip OR print 1 copy then shift fudge drip pattern forward to extend the length. This is the same fudge drip pattern from the coordinating Ice Cream Sundae Zipper Pouch project.
- Cut along drawn line.
- Hand stitch sprinkles using 2 strands of 12 wt Sulky Cotton Thread.
- Fuse along top edge of Ice Cream Sundae Placemat.
- Straight stitch along hot fudge drips with matching 50 wt Cotton Thread
Binding
- Use leftover Tan Fabric or White Confetti Backing Fabric or Coordinating Binding Fabric with your preferred binding method to finish the Ice Cream Sundae Placemats.
- Celebrate finishing your new placemats with ice cream sundaes!
