a LIVE STREAMING Videocast!

Join us on March 9, 2021 at 2pm ET for the Boho Bonnie Bag Videocast! This is a “Lounge and Learn” event in partnership with the American Sewing Expo and we’re excited to bring you this new exclusive bag pattern with loads of high-end details. You don’t have to be a member of the American Sewing Guild to attend, but we encourage you to check it out!

BONNIE PATTERN PARTICULARS

The Bonnie Bag has been designed by Sallie Tomato in collaboration with Sulky of America. This large carryall has lots of pockets, comfortable shoulder straps, and a roomy interior so you can carry everything you need and more! The name and design of this pattern was inspired by Faye Dunaway and the film, Bonnie and Clyde.

The finished size is 21” wide, 13″ high and 6” deep.

The clean exterior is ideal for embellishment, and we’ll learn techniques for both hand embroidery and machine embroidery so no matter your skill level you can add beautiful threadwork to your tote.

The roomy exterior pockets show off high-end faux-metal zippers with stylish donut pulls.

One interior zipper pocket and interior slip pocket hold loads of essentials, keeping them free from the main bag contents.

The shoulder straps and bag base are made of sturdy cork fabric, a cool alternative to leather that’s easy to sew.

Keep everything secured with the heavy-duty invisible magnetic closure.

EMBROIDERY OPTIONS

Two exclusive large-scale embroidery designs were created specifically for the Boho Bonnie Bag. The large Boho Floral design is mirrored to wrap around the bag sides and the Boho Floral Spray fits the exterior pockets perfectly. Placement and number of embroideries is entirely up to you!

Ellen will take you through the steps for machine embroidery, including perfect placement and matching techniques, needle and thread pairings and more. These designs are digitized for Sulky 30 wt. Cotton Thread, which is a unique choice that gives a hand-done look to the bag and contributes to the “boho” vibe.

Ellen will also teach hand embroidery techniques, from basic to intermediate stitches to choose to stabilization tips and finishing steps.

Whether you prefer hand or machine embellishments, your bag will be unique to you with plenty of customization options. Plus, you can choose the cork color of your kit, too! The Coneflower and Magnolia cork both coordinate with the high quality canvas fabric used for the Bonnie Bag exterior.

BAG-MAKING TECHNIQUES

You’ll learn several techniques during the Boho Bonnie Bag Videocast that you can apply to other sewing projects:

  • Adding structure while managing bulky seams
  • Sewing cork fabric without perforations
  • Using machine feet accessories for accurate seaming
  • Working with faux-metal zippers
  • Installing purse feet
  • & more!

MATERIALS & SUPPLIES NEEDED

The Bonnie Bag requires quite a bit of materials. Thankfully, Sulky has curated a Boho Bonnie Bag kit that includes EVERYTHING you need to create this high-end designer bag!
