Holiday Sewing Project – Sew & Make Before Christmas
Your Next Holiday Sewing Project
You’re sure to find your next holiday sewing project with these five ideas to get the creative juices flowing. These projects are fun to make, both for yourself or to give as gifts.
1. Poinsettia Wreath
Create a wreath out of freestanding poinsettia leaves. These are made in the hoop of your embroidery machine, with Sulky Rayon thread, Fabri-Solvy™, small beads and organza.
2. In-the-Hoop Holiday Sewing Project – Gift Tags
A great holiday sewing project is a handmade gift tag that does double duty as an ornament. Hang these on the tree and insert a gift card into the tag slot. The recipient can then use it as a luggage tag, too!
3. Christmas Tree Skirt
Update your tree with a new tree skirt! This project is reversible so you can change the look year after year, depending on your mood or décor. Quilt the table runner using Sulky Invisible Thread to not compete with the fun fabric prints.
4. Mini Hoop Christmas Ornaments
These cuties are displayed in mini embroidery hoops and can hang on the tree or be incorporated into garland across the mantel. Add a little trinket or treat to the opposite side to act as an advent calendar. This project is made with Sulky 12 wt. Cotton Petites thread instead of embroidery floss, making the stitching super simple and easily organized. Grab the patterns for free.
5. Winter Pinnacle Table Runner
Go the untraditional route with your holiday colors and choose soft blues, silvers and grays for your home décor. This table runner will last long after Christmas, featuring metallic snowflakes that add sparkle and shine. Grab the kit to get this fabulous fabric collection by Art Gallery Fabrics, as well as the notions and thread needed to create this holiday sewing project.

I’ve made the poinsettia wreath and it is so beautiful! My son is highly allergic to poinsettias so I haven’t had live ones around for many years but I used thes in the hoop ones and made a gorgeous “potted” plant for him! He loved it because he could feel like his friends who would always have the live plants, and he told me the good thing about his, it never needs water and never dies!
