SNOWFLAKE APPLIQUÉ COASTER SUPPLIES

Supplies listed are enough to make a set of four snowflake appliqué coasters.

SNOWFLAKE APPLIQUÉ

Download and print the Snowflake Appliqué Template. Trace four snowflake appliqué shapes onto the paper side of the fusible web.

COASTER STITCHING

Use a washable glue stick or Sulky Kk2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive to secure one 6” stabilizer square to the wrong side of each Fabric A square.

Prepare the sewing machine with Sulky Poly Sparkle Thread, a Metal needle and an Open Toe presser foot. Select a favorite decorative stitch, such as a blanket or satin stitch, and stitch along the snowflake appliqué edges.

Fuse one Fusible Fleece square to the wrong side of each Fabric-A square. Layer this piece over one plain Fabric-A square wrong side, making a quilt sandwich. Use KK2000 to secure the layers.

QUILTING & COASTER FINISHING

Quilt each snowflake coaster as desired. Quilt along the center of each snowflake. Or, echo quilt beyond the snowflake edges, using either Poly Sparkle or 50 wt. Cotton Thread. If using 50 wt. Cotton Thread for the quilting, switch to a size 70/10 Universal Needle.

After the quilting is complete, trim each coaster to measure 5 ½” square.

Using your favorite method, bind each coaster. Use Sulky 50 wt. Cotton Thread in a size 70/10 Needle and in the bobbin. This lightweight thread is perfect for binding, as it almost “sinks” into the fabric, rather than leaving a telltale “bump,” creating even more bulk along the coaster edges.
