Register HERE >> The kit for this Christmas Gift Tags Kit can also be used for the Valentine Pets Guft Tags! The only thing that’s different are the thread colors! Grab the palette to have the designs and thread you need, and pair it with this kit to have the cork, elastic cording and stabilizer!

Cork is a great fabric for these gift tags, as it looks very high end and is a no-fray fabric. Sulky Felty is also a suitable option and looks cozy and cute! You’ll need a piece for the front, back and optional pocket added to the back of the hoop. (All dimensions are included with the instructional PDF and Color Chart that comes with the designs).

For best results, use Sulky Stiffy Stabilizer to ensure proper support for these satin-fill designs. The stabilizer is easily torn away between the gift tag layers after stitching is complete, and before the final trim.

To finish, use a small hole punch or seam ripper to slice through the gift tag upper-edge oval. This is where you’ll insert cording or a decorative ribbon for hanging.

CROSS-STITCH VERSION

These Valentine Pets Cross Stitch Gift Tags are an adorable addition to any gift for any pet lover! The six exclusive designs from the Be Meow Valentine and I Woof You Collections work perfectly with our custom wooden gift tag blanks. But, you can also stitch the designs onto Aida cloth or other substrate and make them into mini shelf-sitter pillows or framed gifts.

CROSS STITCH DESIGN DETAILS

Grab the collection of Valentine Pets Cross Stitch designs as a standalone digital product. Or, purchase the Thread Palette, which comes with six spools of Sulky Cotton Petites Thread, our preference for handwork projects.

This thread stitches smoothly and comes on a spool. So, you can use it in your machine when paired with a size 100/16 Needle. One strand of this thread equals two strands of traditional embroidery floss, too. This means you get great coverage with just one strand, and even thicker, more pronounced stitches with two strands. This Valentine Cross Stitch Collection uses both one strand and two strands, depending on the design portion you’re working on; simply refer to the included pattern guidesheet for full instructions.

The cross stitch charts recommend using the 14 ct. wooden gift tag blanks from Sulky. But, any count fabric will do as well. This gift tag is high quality, with a coated side that’s intended for the front of the tag. If you prefer the wood look, turn over the gift tag and use the wrong side for a more rustic look and feel.

Alternatively, print the chosen chart, from the three available, onto a Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch Stabilizer sheet. Make sure to print on the fabric-like side. Then, cut out the chart just beyond the design perimeter. Next, place the sticker transfer right side up onto your chosen fabric right side. Finally, stitch through all layers.

If using the gift tag blank, it can also double as an ornament or place card. If desired, cut a rectangle of Felty to match the gift tag dimensions. Felty comes in a Rainbow Assortment with loads of colors. Choose from a Holiday, Neutral and Heather Assortment, and by the roll. To finish, glue the Felty to the tag wrong side after stitching is complete. This hides the wrong side and further finishes the tag.
