Sleigh Appliqué Sweatshirt
SLEIGH APPLIQUÉ
Appliqué a sweatshirt with “Sleigh,” “Merry,” or Fa La La” for a fun take on holiday apparel. Use Sulky Felty for the collegiate-style appliqué lettering to give the sweatshirt texture and dimension. This project is easily customizable, depending on the word or phrase you choose to stitch!

PREPPING APPLIQUÉ
Either download and print the Sleigh Appliqué Template or create the design of your choice. (The featured letters measure approximately 3″ tall for reference.)
Transfer the mirror image of the design onto the paper side of Sulky Perfect Appliqué Fusible Web. (It may be easiest to do this using a Lightbox.)
You can either trace each letter along the outer line or the inner line, depending on the shirt size, placement and how large you prefer the lettering. Next, fuse the fusible side of the Perfect Appliqué onto the wrong side of a piece of Sulky Felty.
Cut out each letter.
FUSING APPLIQUÉ
Remove the paper backing of each appliqué letter.
Position the letters onto the sweatshirt front where desired. Use the appliqué template to help with spacing and curvature.
Once satisfied with the placement of each letter, fuse the letters in place using a medium temp iron.
SEWING APPLIQUÉ
Install a size 70/10 Universal Needle into the machine. Thread the needle and wind a bobbin with matching 50 wt. Cotton Thread.
Set the machine for a decorative stitch. The featured blanket stitch was set to a 2.0mm length and 3.0mm width blanket stitch.
Once the desired stitch is determined, stitch along each letter edge.
Make sure to not stretch the sweatshirt during sewing.
After each letter is stitched, admire your beautiful stitching!
Pair this sweatshirt with a pair of coordinating holiday pajama pants to dress it down. Or pair the sweatshirt with nice boots and some fun Christmas jewelry to dress it up.
