Embroidered Baby Onesie with Patriotic Pride
Hand Embroidered Baby Onesie for Memorial Day or July 4 Add a special patriotic phrase to a baby onesie for Memorial Day or July 4 festivities. Sulky 12 wt. Cotton Petites™ thread is the perfect substitute for embroidery floss, as it’s on a spool so doesn’t tangle like pesky floss can. Plus, one strand of Petites equals two strands of traditional embroidery floss, so there’s less thread to contend with as you embroider. If you’re new to hand embroidery or want a video tutorial for using the Cotton Petites and Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch, look to our Hand Embroidery for Kids video series. (Kids of any age, or kids…

Memorial Day Projects & Sentiments to Honor Fallen Heroes
This weekend we remember the heroes who gave their lives to protect our freedom with Memorial Day projects. To show our love and respect, we bring out our American flags and salute those who have gone before us. Many of us host gatherings to celebrate America. A veritable pre-fourth-of-July, with hot dogs, watermelon and maybe even some fireworks. Some of us decorate with red, white and blue. And of course we need some homemade quilted treasures to sprinkle throughout the house. It’s a great time to be with loved ones and reflect on sacrifices that have been made and are made every day that allow us to live our lives…

In Honor of Veteran’s Day
My 9 and 10 year old girls have learned a lot about the history of our country this year. It has been fun to talk to them about the Revolutionary War and the birth of our country. My older daughter, Korey, is particularly fascinated by our country’s history and it has been fun to hear her perspective on it all. Remembering our country’s history has caused me to gain a greater appreciation for our Veterans. I am proud to live in a country where I am free to express myself, free to worship how I see fit and free to create. These are simple luxuries that are not awarded to…

Sulky Supports Quilts of Valor
In honor of National Sewing Month, every week for the month of September I will be highlighting some of the amazing organizations that we support at Sulky of America. One of the coolest parts of this is that I had so many organizations to choose from! Sulky is such a generous company. I could have chosen from hundreds of organizations that do everything from teach kids to sew, to raising awareness of child abuse, to making clothes for children in Africa. I could tell you about providing thread and stabilizers to guilds across the country for their charity projects or when they provided Sulky 12 wt. Cotton to an after school…

A Few Quick Patriotic Tutorials – Yes, you can do them all by this weekend!
As I was pulling out all of my patriotic decor this weekend, I realized that I had a few things missing! I have my awesome placemats (tutorial here) and my favorite door hanger (You can get the design and the pattern from the Sulky Embroidery Club here) and I hung my flag in front of my house; but I didn’t have a new outfit to wear on July 4th and I really wanted a few more little things to go around the house. So I headed over to the Sulky Embroidery Club to see what patriotic designs were there to give me inspiration. The first one I came across was…
